Papergang: A stationery subscription box review

8 June 2019

If you've been here a while, or spent more than five minutes stalking my insta, you'll know I am the definition of a stationery addict! I'm the girl who will go out and buy a new notebook when I have twelve empty ones sitting at home, just because. So naturally, when I saw Ohh Deer had their own stationery subscription box, Papergang, I knew had to give it a go! I've always used beauty subscription boxes in the past and loved the variation of products I received each month, so I wanted to try the stationery equivalent and see if I was equally besotted.

The boxes generally cost £10.95 a month, however I got my first box for only £5. Also, if you choose to pay for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription instead of month to month, you'll get extra money off and a few free boxes along the way. There's a different theme each month which is what the box is based around, and for the June box the theme was 'under the sea' which focused on marine conservation. If you needed even more of a reason to give it a go, £1 from each box is donated to the marine conservation society, and for every four boxes they sell a tree is planted.

So moving on to the box itself, I loved the simplicity of the packaging - a simple brown box with a decorative sleeve over the top, which also fits perfectly through a letterbox so you don't have to wait in for your postman all day! The products themselves were simply wrapped in tissue paper as opposed to a plastic wrap, which is ideal as it means all of the packaging can be recycled or reused when you're done.

In terms of what stationery and gifts I received in the box, I got:
1 x A5 Notebook
1 x Enamel pin
1 x Sticker sheet
1 x A5 Art print
1 x A6 Monthly calendar
3 x Metal straws in a reusable fabric pouch

Overall the value of the box is estimated at £30, so considering I paid £5, it's an absolute bargain! The quality of the items I received, especially the notebook, was really good and felt very durable. I also love the addition of the metal straws as it suits the theme of sea life and reducing waste really well despite not technically being stationery! I loved the amount of variation in the kinds of items I received, as stickers aren't something I'd usually choose but gives me a chance to step outside of my comfort zone! And I love the holographic aspect to the A5 print and can't wait to add it to my wall.

For my first box, I am super impressed and definitely think if you love stationery like me, it's a great treat to yourself each month without breaking the bank. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated each month with each box to see if I am just as impressed as I was this month!
