Product review of the week - Soap & Glory concealer stick

22 June 2014

With it being my birthday in a few weeks, I managed to get some birthday money early and hit the shops! Along with far too many items then I dare to mention (!) I also bought the Soap & Glory concealer from Boots.

I've  never tried any of the makeup from Soap & Glory before but I'd always been hearing good things, especially about products like the archery brow pen. I've used all the body/skincare products before and really enjoyed them and I wanted to try out the makeup; I needed a new concealer anyway.. I'd never heard or seen the concealer before and it was only £6, which was just a bit more than what I usually paid anyway. I was pretty optimistic it was going to be good since S&G had a really good reputation for their makeup.

The concealer is like a crayon and winds up when you need more. The texture is really soft and it sits on your skin a lot like a mousse. I tried it on my wrist in boots and it felt really light and blended into my skin really well, so I bought the lightest colour to take home with me. The one thing I would have to say is, there isn't much choice in tones. From what I saw in boots, there were only 3 different choices, so I was pretty limited.

I wanted to love this product, I really did. Since it was my first ever piece of S&G makeup and because it looked so good in the shop, but it really wasn't that great. Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice concealer, with a good texture etc. but it doesn't do it's job very well. It's a concealer  yet it didn't really conceal much. It just about coped with the job of concealing minor blemishes and redness such as around my nose and a couple of areas on my forehead, but it was awful at concealing darkness/bags under the eyes, it just rubbed off and went patchy. It would be okay as a highlighter under my eyes, but I'd have to use another concealer first.

see how patchy it looks under the eye? :/

Overall rating:
I loved the idea of this product, and it had a great texture and shade, but it didn't do it's job too well and just ended up patchy and cakey. However, this won't deter me away from Soap & Glory makeup products; I'm looking forward to trying out the archery eyebrow pen soon!

Have you tried out this soap and glory concealer? What did you think?

  1. Such a shame it was a little bit of a disappointment! I've only tried a few of S&G's make up products so I think I'll give this one a miss
